Some Common Questions about Canberra and Region Services
How much do the counselling or family dispute resolution sessions cost?
As a not-for-profit community organisation, Relationships Australia is committed to providing an affordable service to all of our clients. Some programs (such as our counselling service) are only partially funded by State and Federal Governments and fees must be charged.
Our fees vary slightly across different states and territories and are either a fixed rate, or else determined on a sliding scale based on gross household income and number of dependents. Fees are charged per session, with a session typically lasting between 60-90 minutes.
We do have a surcharge on all after-hours appointments and weekend times.
Please call us on 02 6122 7100 (Canberra) or 02 6921 3597 (Wagga Wagga) to find out more information about our fees. Our staff will inform you about the costs involved, including any after-hours charges, and give you an estimate on the cost you would be likely to incur.
Discounts are available to those who have a current healthcare card, pension card, veteran affairs card or student card.
A number of the programs provided by Relationships Australia that include counselling sessions are offered free of charge. Employee Assistance Programs, Group Sessions and Education Courses follow different pricing structures.
We do not refuse a client on the basis of inability to pay. If you are at all concerned about the cost of service, please discuss it with your counsellor at the time of your appointment.
