Rainbow Service - QLD
Specialised support for people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
The Rainbow Service supports the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities through the following structures:
- The Rainbow Counselling Service, provided in partnership with The Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC)
- LGBT awareness training for staff across our organisation and for other community agencies
- Liaison with LGBT communities and agencies supporting these communities, in the development of ways to better support LGBT people
- A network of ‘Rainbow Representatives’ across every one of our Queensland venues, comprising clinical workers with special skills and training for working with LGBT
Our counsellors are tertiary qualified and come from many different backgrounds and life experiences. Our staff receive specialised training in relationship counselling and LGBT awareness. Our professional services are provided to you in a safe, confidential and professional environment

How can a counsellor help?
You counsellor is trained and qualified to:
- Help you identify patterns in your relationship which are contributing to misunderstandings
- Help you improve your communication
- Help you manage differences and explore possibilities for change

- Quote ‘The Rainbow Service’ to book a session at our counselling service for LGBT couples and individuals
- Find out where your local RAQ branch is situated and attend counselling at a location convenient for you
