Relationships Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing counselling and education services for 60 years.  We are currently seeking applications for the part-time (32 hours per week) role of family support worker working from our Safe Haven service.  Located within the Toowoomba region this service provides support and assistance to indigenous women and their children who have experienced domestic and family violence.  The Family Support Worker position will work directly with these women and their families in order to assist with their daily living needs.

The major responsibilities of this position includes:

  • Participate in intake of clients including determination of eligibility to access the service
  • Provide individual case management in order to tailor services and support to the clients needs both physical and cultural
  • Oversee maintenance of physical environment including assisting with cleaning and maintenance of facilities
  • Provide information and referrals as deemed appropriate to clients in order to assist in treatment of presented issues

The successful applicant for this position will have demonstrated experience and also some theoretical knowledge of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families in regard to domestic and family violence.  A relevant tertiary qualification in the social or behavioural sciences and previous case management experience will also be highly regarded.

The successful applicant will be awarded a salary pro-rata $40,212 plus super and additionally generous salary packaging which will significantly increase the value of take-home pay.

Applicants for this position must be able to nominate an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who is recognised and accepted in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as a referee to support their ability to meet the requirements of this position.
