Relationships Australia has been providing counselling and education services for 60 years, we are currently seeking applications for the role of Community Education & Development Officer working part-time (22.8 hours per week) within the Cairns region.  This position will be responsible for the promotion of the services we offer in the Cairns region, by developing and delivering educational programs and building relationships with local stakeholders. 

The primary purpose of this position is to actively promote our services within the local community. Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Developing, documenting, publicising and delivering a variety of innovative educational programs, resources, and events to meet the needs of families at all different stages of relationships.
  • Engaging and liaising with a broad range of local stakeholders and actively network within the industry, with community agencies and the media to represent family relationship issues at the community level.
  • Actively participating in outreach of the Family Relationship Centre services to the designated regions
  • In consultation with the Venue Manager, conducting systematic evaluation and research into the effectiveness of the education and outreach programs.
  • In consultation with the Venue Manager, developing strategies to ensure that as far as possible, the services develops in accordance with the needs of the local community.

Applicants must possess relevant tertiary qualifications in education, social or behavioural sciences, an understanding of adult learning principles, and substantial experience in delivering community education, information and awareness programs.

Knowledge of current theory and practice relating to the provision of community development is also essential. 

A competitive salary package, pro-rata $48,350 plus superannuation, will be offered to the successful applicant and generous salary packaging, which significantly increases the take home value of earnings, is also available.
